15 Minutes = Awesome Days

Don’t forget while you are reading this, that this is a challenge and there is a prize for the winner.


I am doing this because lately I’ve been feeling scattered and created a challenge for myself so I can get back to my “good place”.  I know I can find peace, better health, and have more energy in just 15 minutes every morning.  Sounds crazy, but I know how true it is. 


For the entire month of April I am going to do this challenge Every.  Single.  Morning.

Every day in April I will be getting out of bed 15 minutes before everyone else in my house. I will accomplish 3 things (yes, only 3 things) every morning in April.  Even on the weekends.



  1.  Meditate for 5 minutes first thing after my feet hit the floor. 

Meditation helps to clear your mind so you have mental clarity.  You’ll find you have improved judgement during the day.  You will also feel less stressed and be more resilient and flexible in challenging situations.  You’ll probably even notice yourself being more patient.  (Not into meditation?  How about you spend 5 minutes with a cup of warm lemon water.  No electronics, no books, no anything!  Just you, your tea and your thoughts.)


2.  5 minutes of physical activity.

I will be varying the activities each day, like alternating between lunges, squats, crunches, time on the elliptical or bike.  I know it doesn’t seem like much, but I will take an extra 5 minutes of exercise any day.  It helps increase your blood flow, metabolism, and really gets your motor going.  I promise you’ll have more energy each day and I bet at the end of the month, you’ll feel a lot stronger than you did when you started.  I’ve used this trick before and noticed how great it was.


3.  Smoothie or shake time.

It only takes about 5 minutes (or even less) to make a nutritious smoothie for breakfast.  I keep my fridge and freezer organized so I have quick access to my smoothie stuff.  You might even find yourself leaving your blender on the counter all month.  It’s ok though, it’s all making way for your best you to come through.  If you find that you just can’t get yourself to make a smoothie, buy a high quality protein shake, my favorite is Nutrimeal and shake it up with water so you can get something healthy for breakfast that will set the tone for a healthy day.  Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day.  You get your metabolism going and it will help stabilize your blood sugar so that you are more likely to make healthy food choices the rest of the day.
